It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but also prime time for stress. It’s so easy to get sucked into all the craziness during this season and start to feel like a chicken with its head cut off, I totally get that feeling where you slowly start to get a little overwhelmed and so I thought I would share a few tips on how to keep yourself from being stressed.
Prioritize and batch work, its so easy to have way too much on your plate and not even know where to start so you start feeling extremely stressed out. I am learning to prioritize and work on what is most important first, I have learnt recently there is no such thing as multitasking, so figure out what is important or what needs to be done first then focus on that and get it out of the way.- Don’t wait till the last minute, I know it’s already December and as the clock is very quickly ticking down the pressure might be on. So get everything done with every opportunity. I mean use each day to your advantage, if you know you have a lot of gifts to get then instead of holding off and doing one big bulk shopping day, why don’t you break it down. Each day pick a person you want to shop for and knock out getting their presents. This will help you feel less overwhelmed and help cross things off your list a lot faster.
- Take a breather, listen you have to know when to take a break and just let the chips call where they may. If you feel you are getting way too frazzled and are slowly losing it, then call a time out and give your self the time to make sense of it all. Christmas will come again next year so do what you can and leave the rest.
- Ask for help, if you are like me you might want to be super woman and do it all yourself but that sometimes can be a recipe for disaster. So if you have someone that is willing and wants to help, please allow them to help!
- Lastly just enjoy what the holidays are about. Like I said the holidays will be back again next year so why overwork and over stress yourself. At the end of the day the memories is what will count the most so enjoy the moments with your loved ones and stop freaking out just because you weren’t able to get the perfect present or decorate your tree or house to look like an Instagram worth home.
What are some ways you all reduce holiday stress for yourselves?

Thanks for the reminder. I know I didn't get out our advent this year because it was just too much. I still have a few more gifts to make and then I'll be done – but I promise I'll enjoy what the holidays are about. Thanks again.

You are 100% spot on with all of these, mama! I just wrote a guest post for another blog – looks pretty much exactly like this – AND came across a post I wrote a few years ago along these lines that I'd forgotten about – again, exact same tips, more or less! Great minds think alike! 🙂
