Back-to-school season can sometimes mean back to cold/flu and fever season. As much as I love getting my kids back to school, it can be a lot on my and their immune system. But this year, I am getting ahead of things and implementing simple tricks into our everyday life to help relieve common cold symptoms and reduce fever during this back-to-school season.
- Wash your hands – My girls know once they get home from school, the first thing they do is wash their hands. Germs are prone to being passed around in those classrooms so by washing their hands, I am hoping to stop those germs dead in their tracks before they can get comfortable in our home.
- Being prepared with OTC medicine because sometimes, you really can’t avoid these things. One of my faves right now is Children’s TYLENOL® Dissolve Packs that I was able to purchase at my local Walgreens store. My girls are not big fans of taking med when they are sick, so being able to give them something easily dissolves on their tongues and comes in a kid-friendly, wild berry flavor makes things so convenient. Being prepared with medicine like this makes life a lot easier for me—so the fact that I don’t have to deal with any bottles or have to measure and shake is just perfect. Quick mom note, always remember to follow directions that come with the medicine

- Stay up to date on doctors’ visits. I am making sure the entire family is up to date on all our shots and physicals. This is so important once the kids are back to school because you are able to stay ahead of things before it gets worse—and it’s just good practice, honestly. Be sure to talk to your doctor about any questions or concerns. As parents, we are so good about getting the kids checked out but tend to forget ourselves. Then, when things go south, we are hit a lot worse.
- Vitamins and juices!!! Fluids are so important at this time of the year, not only to stay properly hydrated but also as extra sources of vitamin c.
- Disinfecting frequently. Disinfecting wipes are my best friend during this season. Cleaning spaces frequently and thoroughly will help to keep the germs at bay

By staying ahead of these things, you are able to do everything in your power to get through the school year with as few sick days as possible. As I mentioned before, if you do get hit with the common cold or flu, Children’s TYLENOL® Dissolve Packs are a great way to help your kids feel better with its effective pain and fever relief. Shopping for it at my local Walgreens, I was so happy with how easy and fast it was to grab a couple of boxes and be out of the store in no time. When your child is sick, the last thing you want is to be in a store for way too long. I would love to know what are some ways and things you are implementing this school year to help in preventing or keeping fevers, cold and flu out of your home?
